There are literally thousands of different models of photo printers available as I unfortunately found out when I started researching one.
Choosing one can be maddeningly difficult. I just needed a simple yet good quality one for my wife, and a better and faster one for my office, yet it took me days of research!
The results of all of my research is here, to make your life easier. To make choosing a great photo printer for your use easier and less frustrating.
Reviews and personal recommendations sort of work, except that manufacturers change their models far too frequently! I spoke to lots of people that own and use photo printers, and I also read literally thousands of reviews online!
Reading reviews is great research.
Amazon has
plenty of reviews (and often GREAT deals).
Of course you also probably need to educate yourself somewhat on photo printers, which is time consuming and probably not a lot of fun unless you're a big techie fan like me.
Also consider what you what your printer to do, your needs. Do you just want to print the occasional photo?
In that case, the Canon Selphy CP780 is a great little printer for under $100. Great reviews and it simply works.
Do you need a portable unit, maybe one to take on vacation
or one that takes up very little space? In that case the
Canon Selphy ES30
rocks and even has a builtin handle for real portability!
Or do you need an all in one device that prints, scans, and faxes? Lots of options here.
Are you a professional photographer or is photography your passion? Maybe you need a professional model?
Or maybe, you need a regular old laser printer for bulk printing in the office or home office like me, and then a small photo printer for the odd photo?
In the coming days, in my spare time, I'll outline all the stuff I found in my research. Yeah, I went a little overboard in my research, and don't want it all to go away.
I'll also strive to update this periodically.
For the record, I've had great success with Canon Photo Printers,
HP Photo Printers
, less than great success with Lexmark, and mixed luck
with Epsom Photo Printers
although I'd buy another one for sure!
