Canon Selphy Printers

The Selphy Compact Photo Printers are nice little units that range from about $100 to over $300. They are designed for traditional photo sized prints and do not need a computer to print so they have all have displays built in.

They produce great pictures using dye-sublimation technology and are basically designed as a portable equivalent of walk up photo kiosks. Quality is superb!

They all have a variety of connectivity options: from memory cards, via optional Bluetooth wireless, and directly from compatible cameras, camera phones and more. Some of the models have a convenient built in retractable USB cord.

Some also take an optional battery for real portability, and yes many people take these on vacation to print photos on the spot. These are special purpose rechargeable batteries and more expensive than regular AA,AAA,  C or D batteries

The Canon Selphy ES30 is recommended and even comes with a handle for real portability! It's compatible with 20 types of memory cards, has a 3.0 LCD display, and the cartridges are neat, containing both ink and paper so you never run out of just ink or paper, a perennial problem with other printers. It lists for $190 but as of this writing, Amazon has very deep discounts.

Great travel printer as are all the ES models.

The Canon Selphy CP780  is an amazing little printer for under $100. It comes in multiple colors, and prints a 4"x6" photo in under a minute. User reviews are very positive. It prints without borders in Credit Card, 4” x 6”, 4” x 8” sizes as well as mini and full labels, has 1 2.5" TFT screen. It has "Portrait  Image Optimization" which detects people’s faces so their brightness and contrast is adjusted, and automatic red correction to reduce red-eye in images to when flash photography is used.

The Canon Selphy Compact Photo Printers are great when you want a printer for photos only - you are not going to print documents or anything else with these! They are small, light, convenient, and easy to travel with. My friend George really digs the (optional) Bluetooth wireless connectivity too as he has lots of gadgets.

What else could you want in a photo printer?
