The Canon Pixma models print photos well and most are "all in one" models which means they not only print, but copy and scan as well. Pixmas can print on a wide variety of media and sizes, not just 4"x6" photo paper or similar like the Canon Selphy models. Media and sizes supported include plain paper, glossy and matte photo paper, photo stickers, T-shirt transfer material, envelopes, and more including A4, B5, A5, letter, legal, and envelopes. Of course check individual models for details.
Many Pixma models have built in Wi-Fi for wireless printing, a convenient option indeed. Some of the most popular are listed below as well as reviews.
The Pixma iP6220D Photo Printer
is a very popular winner in the inexpensive category - well under $100.
It produces "lab quality" photos with its innovative print head has 2304 fine nozzles and it's addition of two high-intensity inks, Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta, to the four regular inks. It prints a great 4"x6" borderless print in about 60 seconds and an 8.5"x11" one in under 2 1/2 minutes.
You don't need a computer to print. You can print from directly from memory cards or PictBridge compatible (that means most of them) digital camera or DV camcorder. The 2.5" LCD screen lets you see your pictures in full color.
The Pixma iP6220D Photo Printer can also automatically
detect faces and correct for red eye and improve their sharpness and
lighting, or you can fine tune yourself from the. control panel. This
is an excellent photo printer with exceptional quality at a very good price -
we've seen them for $50! Unfortunately Canon may be phasing them out so
also consider the similar
Canon
iP3600 Inkjet Photo Printer,
which I haven't personally tried yet but gets great reviews as well.
The Canon Pixma iP4200 photo printer is another winner in
the under $300 category, but it's being replaced by newer models including the Canon MP980
Wireless all-in-one Photo Printer
which gets positive reviews for photo quality but some complaints about
horrible documentation (check out the reviews here)
and the similar Canon PIXMA MP990 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer
which is new enough that as of this writing I could find no reviews and have
even physically seen one yet.
Moving up in price and capabilities, the Canon Pixma PRO9000MkII Inkjet Photo Printer
is a great machine in the $500 (before discounts) category. It features
4800x2400 dpi photo lab quality, with 11"x14" color photos taking about a
minute and a half, and
support for fine art paper up to 13"x19".
I'd love to own one and may eventually.
That's a quick tour through the dizzying and constantly
changing array of Pixma printers. Keep in mind that Amazon usually has very
good deals, including sometimes incredible deals on slightly older yet brand
new machines. Click here to see Pixma deals..
